- Must have a tertiary qualification in hotel management.
- Must have 4 Star and 5 Star hotel experience as a General Manager – not negotiable.
- Must have excellent knowledge and understanding of the workings of a fine dining kitchen.
- Must have an excellent understanding and knowledge of a wine cellar.
- Must be comfortable in managing and maintaining large gardens.
- Must have appreciation for art. Antiques and valuable objects.
- Must be able to cook a number of restaurant quality dishes him or herself.
- Must be in possession of a valid Driver’s license and own reliable motor vehicle.
- Good knowledge of hotel PMS systems, such as Protel, Opera, etc.
- Must be comfortable setting up and executing gala dinners.
- Must have reasonable knowledge of Industrial Relations legislation.
- Must be prepared to work long hours.
- This position includes a five and a half day working week.
- Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management abilities.
- Proven track record of achieving revenue and profitability targets.
- Knowledge of hotel operations, revenue management, and guest service best practices.
- Ability to work effectively under pressure and adapt to changing priorities.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and hotel management software.
- Certification in hotel management or related field is a plus
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Oversee all hotel operations, including front desk management, housekeeping, maintenance, food and beverage, and administration.
- Develop and implement strategic plans to achieve revenue and profitability goals.
- Manage budgeting, forecasting, and financial reporting for the hotel.
- Monitor and analyse market trends, competitive set, and customer feedback to identify opportunities for improvement.
- Lead and motivate a team of employees, providing training, guidance, and support as needed.
- Ensure compliance with all company policies, procedures, and standards.
- Foster a positive and inclusive work environment that encourages teamwork, communication, and collaboration.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with guests, vendors, and community partners.
- Handle guest inquiries, issues, and complaints in a timely and professional manner.
- Conduct regular inspections of hotel facilities to ensure cleanliness, safety, and maintenance standards are met.
